Day 1 Flight to Honolulu. Upon arrival you are greeted in the traditional Polynesian way—with a warm aloha and a lei of fresh flowers. Transfer to your hotel in Waikiki. The remainder of your day is at leisure.
Day 2 Honolulu. A breakfast get-together with your Tour Director to review activities scheduled throughout your Hawaiian stay. The balance of the day is free to relax, swim, enjoy water sports, or laze on the beach. Maybe take the optional excursion to the Polynesian Cultural Center, featuring authentic island arts, crafts, history, music, and a dinner buffet and spectacular Polynesian show with more than 100 performers. This evening maybe enjoy an optional sunset cruise with dinner, Hawaiian cocktails, and splendid views of the glittering Waikiki coastline and Diamond Head. (B)
Day 3 Honolulu. Begin with a tour of PEARL HARBOR’S famous battleship row. Listen to the narration of the dramatic air attack of December 7, 1941, and visit the USS Arizona and the impressive MEMORIAL to the 1,102 men still entombed. You will also have an opportunity to visit the MUSEUM, which is an excellent way to learn about Pearl Harbor Day, the Japanese strategy and military craft, and the individuals involved in the attack. As a partner with Tourism Cares for Tomorrow, Globus has chosen this museum for preservation and restoration funding. Then on to Punchbowl National Cemetery. Other sights include Chinatown, Hawaii’s state capitol, the royal Iolani Palace, and the statue of Kamehameha the Great. This evening enjoy dinner atop Hawaii’s only revolving restaurant, offering panoramic views. (B,D)
Day 4 Honolulu–Kona. Transfer to the airport for your morning flight to the “Big Island.” Upon arrival, visit the KONA COFFEE LIVING HISTORY FARM. You will have an opportunity to learn and experience the history of Kona’s coffee industry and the remarkable story of the pioneers who established these farms. Then transfer to your oceanfront resort on the sunny west coast of Hawaii’s largest island, whose total land mass is more than twice the combined area of all the other islands. This evening enjoy a lavish LUAU feast, then sit back and watch the captivating Polynesian revue of dancers and musicians. (B,D)
Day 5 Kona. Today circle the island as you visit HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK. See Kilauea Crater, rising 4,090 feet above a volcanic wonderland of steaming fire pits, lava tubes, and fern forests. Lunch at the Volcano Golf and Country Club. Then head back along the scenic Hamakua Coast through Parker Ranch to arrive at the hotel. (B,L)
Day 6 Kona. Today, you decide the pace. You can opt to relax at your splendid seaside resort, do some independent sightseeing, or enjoy one of our optional excursions. For a once-in-a-lifetime experience, take an optional helicopter flight over Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and see the magnificent active lava flow. (B,D)
Day 7 Kona–Maui. Transfer to the airport for the short and scenic flight to Kahului on the “Valley Island” of Maui. Drive to the lush IAO VALLEY to see the Iao Needle, a spectacular volcanic spire. Then to LAHAINA, once a whaling center and the capital of the Hawaiian monarchy. Continue to Maui’s resort area of Kaanapali, your home for the next two nights. Balance of the day at leisure. (B)
Day 8 Maui. The day is free for you to enjoy at your leisure. Perhaps join the optional excursion to Haleakala National Park, site of the huge volcanic Haleakala Crater, known to the islanders as the “House of the Sun.” The park is in a setting of stunning natural beauty, ranging from cinder cones to dense rain forest. In 1980 this fragile native ecosystem was designated an International Biosphere Reserve. You have plenty of time in the afternoon to relax and enjoy your resort’s facilities. From mid-December to mid-April a humpback whale watching cruise is available. This evening your Tour Director hosts a special GLOBUS FAREWELL CELEBRATION DINNER. Wonderful conversation and cuisine is the perfect finale to your vacation. (B,D)
Day 9 Maui. Continue your stay on Maui, with plenty of activities to try. “Maui no ka oi” (“Maui is the best”) is what the locals say and it’s easy to see why this Hawaiian island is so popular. Besides the beautiful landscape and perfect weather, Maui also boasts some premier attractions. If you ever get tired of lying on one of its 80 named beaches, Lahaina—the one-time whaling port and capital of the monarchy—has many historic sites to visit. (B)
Day 10 Maui. A full day to swim and sunbathe at the beach or hotel pool. Consider our optional helicopter flightseeing excursion: fly over Molokai for spectacular vistas of Kahiwa Falls and Kalaupapa National Historic Park. Another choice is the “Road to Hana,” one of the world’s most spectacular drives with 54 bridges and many waterfalls. (B)
Day 11 Transfer to Kahului Airport to connect with your homebound flight. (B) |
